Kris at 2B tried to run down a looper behind him toward CF, but he pulled a muscle and sat himself on D afterwards.
Stephen homered over the RF by 30 feet.
Alex played SS for innings 4-7, and she made a play that only Harrison and Stephen would have made, a grounder on which she glanced at 2B to see that the fast runner would have beaten her throw, so threw to first and beat the fast batter by a step.
Key defensive play came in the bottom of the 6th. With 1 out, bases loaded, and the tying run in, Sandro lifted a shallow, high fly to Richard in LF, who broke backward, caught the ball while running forward at a fair speed, and threw a 2-hopper to Annie at C to get the runner tagging from 3B and end the inning.
In the next half inning, Yukio smartly took 3rd on Mike's liner to RF and scored on Kris's groundout. Alex drove Stephen in with a solid liner to RC to get a key insurance run.

5th Base, whose outfielders typically can't catch a cold, played some guy we hadn't seen before in RF. Stephen crushed one to deep R/RC, and this guy ran it down. He made two or three more good catches on the day, including the game ender.

Stephen's day: 7-for-7 with a walk, a double, and 6 homers for a slugging average of 3.714. And 17 RBIs. Strangely, his second homer was important because Scared Hitless had just scored a bunch, and we had responded with two easy outs before the bomb. Kris actually had the first homer, one over the fence in the first.

Stephen - holy cow! Missile to CF, then two over the fence.
Welcome back to Annie, who lost 2 months nursing her family past covid.
Richard, coaching 3B over-enthusiastically, sent Joe (running for Mike) home from 2B on Johnny's hard single, earning the first out of the big inning. Luckily, Alex hit one to the pitcher Joey, who threw the ball away in trying to get the force at 3B, allowing everyone to move 2 bases.
In the 7th, Brad bombed a good triple, then Chet singled through the IF to tie the game. Joe lined one down the LF line that Tony lunged for. The ump said nothing, not catch/no catch or fair/foul, so Chet hesitatingly ran for 2B. The Dawgs lobbed the ball around and got a double play out of it. An annoyed Richard then overswung at the first pitch for a soft liner to CF.
Richard in RF early in the 3rd caught a foul, barely out of play liner but didn't think to reach for the ball like a wide receiver. Kris fumbled a hard grounder that might have been 2 outs but instead was 0. And Yukio and Stephen miscommunicated that inning on a high fly between them, which fell for a hit. Yukio in LF in the 6th got burned by Megan but recovered to get to the ball, as only 2 other Sharks could have done, but then dropped it. Later that inning, he charged a tough, low liner and again couldn't hold on.
A win would probably have earned us a tie or better for the league championship.

On the last play of the game, the SS (3B?) on the other team short-hopped Steph's liner, started arguing that it was a catch, then threw wildly over 1B. However, the ball bounced right back to the 1B to end the game.
Stephen hit his homer over the fence, and one of Kris's singles went over as well, but we were still 1-up.
