Welcome to David Webb, who played solid D at 2B, including a putout on a FC in the 1st when Steve threw a rocket right over the base.
Steve had an excellent day at 3B, and Frank also had an all-star day at SS.
Angel's homer and Richard's triple went right up the middle, while Rich'ss split RC and RF.
The Sellecks' first run came with two outs when Gene Lee hit a ball high off the fence that Richard fielded cleanly, threw to Frank at SS, who relayed perfectly to Steve, but Gene knocked the ball out of the glove into the dugout. When Steve tried to retrieve it, he cut his hand on the fence.

Three double plays hurt badly: Angel crushed two one-hoppers right at people, and Laverne got caught off 1B on Earl's liner.
More pain: Mike walked the 8 & 9 batters to start the 2nd. Gasp probably looped 5 balls in front of Rich in LF that inning.

Adrian in RC again had the play of the day, going back and to her right to catch Jesse's deep fly. Josh might have gotten there as well but backed off upon seeing Adrian hone in.
The top of the first went hit, hit, sac fly, leaving 1 run in and 1 runner on first. On Steve's fly to RF, Richard caught the fly and threw a one-hopper to 2B to get the runner tagging up.
Game finished in less than 50 minutes.

Adrian in RC made a twisting catch on a hard line drive to get the second out of the third inning - the game would have been very different without it. She also had a couple of other good catches, clearly the defensive player of the day.
Mike's homer was a deep fly to right, while Rich's triple went between RF and RC. Richard had a towering shot down the LF line that hit the tree and stayed in play for a double.

Josh in LF, Bobby in LC, Annie in RC each dropped a ball, each of which cost only one run. However, the biggest play was probably a play at the plate, where Bobby threw a no-hop laser to Laverne well in time, but the ump called the runner safe, possibly for a high tag.
Thanks to Bobby and Laverne for subbing. Bobby's home run went to deep center, where no Shark has gone in quite a while.

We probably hit better than Kaos, but we never strung a big inning together. The biggest killer was Brad getting thrown out going first to home with none out in the second on Gino's double. In his defense, no one was coaching third base. Brad did hit the first Shark homer of the year, a towering shot over the left field fence.
Brutal, brutal defense. A rusty Gino at 1B dropped three throws but did have the best play of the day, spearing a hard, high liner for a double play to end the third. Frank at 2B threw one away. Brad at SS let a couple go under his glove. Richard and Adrian in LC and RC let a few balls go under their gloves, though they did back each other up. However, in the fateful 5th, almost all of the Kaos batters reached legitimately.
Richard and Adrian both reached safely every time up. Richard had one lucky, heavy topspin ball, but Adrian smacked hers well every time. Kaos's awkward-looking, angular, lefty 1B crushed a homer to right field. Their women hit well also. The game ended on a good play by Ray Huang, who threw out Annie from deep down the line at 3B.

Richard had bookend little-league home runs, both hard, low liners to the LCF, who let both get by. The first put the Sharks on the board, and the second ended the game. Richard was out by 5 feet on the second after Chris Green at SS put his throw on the money to the pitcher covering home, but Richard knocked the ball out of his glove with a hard slide.
Brad struck out with his posterior hanging out as if Frankie Rodriguez threw one of his nasty sliders. Rich took a called third strike on a ball that looked like it would be short, then swung at a third strike on a ball near the same spot. Josh struck out swinging on a high-to-low swing, and Adrian fouled out on strikes, though she may have gotten cheated out of a foul. Brad also had a brutal swinging strike the last time up before cueing his second single off the end of his bat.
Chris Green hit two balls over the fence and a one-hopper off Richard's shoulder at SS. Josh tripled solidly to left, while Angel just missed on his second double, the ball hitting 3/4 up the left-field fence.
Adrian at C hustled out to catch a tricky pop-up in the 4th. Richard, after relieving Frank at SS in the third, fed Earl on a force to end the 4th, though the runner slid late and wiped out Earl, who could have been really hurt had his body been facing 3B instead of LF. Brad - Earl - Rich turned a huge 5-4-3 double play to clear the bases in the top of the fifth.
