This was a 9-on-9 game. Frank spaced out on some of Brad's ADD and missed the game, so Richard played SS.
Nice hitting - everyone got on at least twice.
Tony at 2B had a nice backhand stop and assist to end the 4th.
Richard had a good 6-3 double play for the first two outs of the 5th.
After many runs had scored with 2 outs in the first, Richard smothered a grounder up the middle and flipped to Tony for the final out.
Rachel at C (after straining a muscle going down to first on her first single) made a nice, twisting catch on a foul pop.

Imperial Palace played 5 infielders against the men.
Tom one-hopped the gray shed in center in the 6th. With some I.P. player yelling for a foul ball, Mitch slowed rounding 2nd, prompting the ump to call a ground-rule double.
I.P. vehemently argued an automatic double play call, which we thought was correctly called.
Mike pitched innings 1-3, then left after batting in the 3rd. Steve pitched the remainder of the game.
Richard in RF had a nice charging catch on Jacob Berlin's pop-up in the third.

To shake things up, Richard batted himself first and Rich second. With two out in the second and Joe and Richard on second and first, Rich worked the count to 3-2, allowing the runners to leave with the pitch, then lined a single to center to drive both in.
Joe left after 3.5 innings, having scheduled something after not realizing we had a doubleheader. Due to a dearth of mobile players, Steve moved from P to LF, Richard from LF to RF, Mike from 1B to P, and Rich from DH to 1B.
Three outstanding defensive plays: Hannah at C caught Karla Clark's twisting foul pop up in the first. Tom at 3B speared Brian Martin's hard grounder down the line in the third, after Brian had homered to deep RC the previous at bat. With 1 out, 1 in, and a runner on second in the 7th, Richard laid out to his right to catch Jeff Boyer's sinking liner.
Tony's double in the first set up a small ball inning, where all baserunners got cashed in on sacrifice flies. Steve's out came on a nice diving catch by Gino. Steve actually made 5 outs on the day that could have been hits.

Dreadful game. Alan Kunihiro pitched well. Dayg defense caught a lot of hard hit line drives.
Richard's and Joe's hits were liners off the shed in left-center. Joe ambitiously tried for second on his and got thrown out.
Richard in RF broke to his right on a liner, but the ball sliced to his left for a home run.

Tony smoked two balls for extra base hits, and Brad killed one toward 3B.
Rachel slid head-first twice and backed up throws at 1B from C. Yow!
No ump. 9 in the field as Rich is DHing this year and Richard's sub had a babysitting problem.

Ten Sharks were at the field 5 minutes before the start of the game, for the first time in memory. Frank showed up a couple of minutes later but still before game time.
Best at-bat of the game was Rich's in the 4th. Rich took a called strike, then held off on two reasonable pitches to get to a full count with 2 outs. With Mitch and Richard running on the pitch, Rich's single through the middle off the pitcher's glove scored both to tie the game for the first time.
After a brutal, three-base error by the right fielder on Tom's pop-up, Mitch put the Sharks ahead for the first time with a solid single. He and Richard did not make an out on the day.
Brad at 3B nicely cut off a hard hit grounder into the 5-6 hole for a key out in the 5th. With one run in, no outs, and runners on first and third in the 3rd, Richard at 2B knocked down a grounder up the middle but recovered to step on the base and throw to Tony at 1B for the double play. Mitch in RF had a couple of good catches.
David Tseng in LF broke in perfectly on Steve's line drive in the third for a sliding catch. Alex Aguilar at 3B made a bunch of stops, and Fabiano Oyafuso at SS made a good play on Brad's smoked grounder in the 5th.

Welcome to Mike, who nearly took Frank's head off with a line drive in the 7th.
Rich is unable to throw, so is DHing all season. Nice hitting.
Great hitting by Joe, who got the clinching hit in the 6th with two runners on and the automatic out following.
No assists from 3B: Mitch threw two away, Tom threw one, then Mike dropped a riser from Tom. However, Tom hit the ball on the screws for two doubles, and Mitch paid up with a pitcher for his K.
Steve speared a hard liner to end the first.
Tony had an excellent running catch back and to his left in the 6th.
Richard made a good, flopping catch down the left field line in which he lost the ball but had the ball smack his glove.
In the 6th, Joe at 2B made a nice stop but wild turn and throw to Frank covering 2B. Frank had to come off the base but relayed in time to Mike at 1B.
Umpire scored 5 for us in the 5th, and we didn't catch it.
