- Nine people at game time. Joe arrived durinig the top of the first.
Earl arrived as Dana left in the middle of the third.
- Offensively, the two Richards enjoyed the return to Loma Alta, especially
Rich, who hit for the cycle. Otherwise, only Annie got on twice.
- Mitch made two excellent assists to Rich at 3B on the last guy in the
Mauler order, who tried to go first to third on sharply hit balls both
times.
- Frank leapt as high as he could to snare a liner in the third, then
threw past Brad at 1B in trying for the double play. However, the runner
tried for second, and Brad threw to Earl for the tag out.
- Becky at 2B stopped a hard hit grounder with her stomach in the 2nd.
- Mauler SS Sloane made 2 or 3 excellent stops for outs. Annie did coax
an error out of him on Steve's grounder in the 6th by shielding him until
the last split-second.
- Round Table afterwards: Annie, Mario, Michael, Stephen, Mitch, Joe,
Rich, Steve, Earl, Richard. Rich paid up for his K last week.

- Seven people at game time.
- With one out in the seventh, the Diamonds's leadoff batter reached the
fence in RF for a triple, then took home on a bad relay. The real key was
the sixth, where two errors by Richard at SS and a 3-pitch walk to
Catalina Valdez extended the inning and got the Diamonds through their
long lineup.
- In Frank's absence, Richard at SS had ~7 assists and 2 putouts, but
an error in the third and two in the 6th each cost at least 1 run.
- Following Richard's error in the sixth, Calzada ripped a double to
left-center. SteveS ran it down and threw to Richard, who relayed home
late to Steve, but Steve relayed to Tom to get Calzada trying for 3B.
- Tony's home run cleared the fence to dead right. Richard's home run
cleared the fence in RC. However, the hitting star of the day was Annie,
who hit a huge 2-run single in the first and had three other good hits.
- Trivia: either Tom or Brad ended the first 6 innings. Tom ripped a
good double into the LC tree to avoid ending the 7th.
- Rancho afterwards: Annie, Tony, Tom, Steve S, Richard

- Steve pitched well: two Ks on fouls, few hard hit balls except from IP's
#3 and #4 hitters.
- Tony hit well, with his triple landing near the base of the fence
in right field. SteveS should have had a triple in the last inning but
for a make-up call for Tom's last "single", a looper on which Joe seemed
to be forced at 2B.
- Rich hit the ball hard 4 times but nice plays got him twice. On Rich's
first liner, Frank should have been doubled off 1B, but got saved by a
poor throw. Drawing a throw allowed Richard to score. Steve got caught
in a pickle after Annie's pop-up but took one in the butt cheek to get
back to 3rd.
- Tom played exceptional D at 3B with perhaps 4 assists and 2 putouts, all
of which were hit hard. One liner was from the #3 batter, who also
rocketed one to SteveS in LF in the first.
- Rancho afterwards: Annie, Joe, SteveS, Frank, Richard. Annie showed off
a beautiful scab from her great slide into 2B last week.
- The 5:30 game ended late because 1) field wasn't set up at game time,
2) Toads didn't have enough at game time, 3) Sonny Koliwad possibly broke
his ankle during the game, and 4) the wheel of a parked van caught fire,
bringing the fire department out a second time.

- Tony squared the ball up every time up, driving in runners each time.
He scored on his second double (maybe a triple) by running smartly
yet aggressively and forcing an overthrow. His homer cleared the
right-center fence.
- Frank also got on every time up, and Annie drove home a run each
time up, the last three times with clutch singles. Annie, wearing shorts,
also slid into second base in the 3rd inning on the unsuccessful throw
home, putting her in position to score on Tony's double. Richard hit
his triple hard to left.
- Rich pinch-ran for Brad in the 5th. Brad did pay up for his swinging
strikeout.
- Rene left the game in the bottom of the fourth after injuring
his hamstring in the top half. On D, Brad came in at 1B, moving Rich to
3B and Tom to LF. Brad nicely dug out a low throw from
Frank for the last out of the inning.
- Steve, Frank, Rich turned a long 1-6-3 double play in the second
on a little squibber up the third base line. Steve also caught the game's
first batter's hard liner up the middle and handled one of the four throws
in a pickle to end the first.
- Tom at 3B got all three outs in the 3rd. With the bases loaded,
he caught a rocket and doubled off the runner who took a huge lead.
A few batters later, Tom fielded a grounder and stepped on 3rd for
the force.
- Richard in RF caught a deep fly ball just in front of the fence from
the last batter to start the fifth, then Annie ran in to spear a liner
for the second out.
- Possible record for spectators: Heidi, some kid with Heidi,
Sheila, Alyssa, Haley, Tanne, Madeline, Rene's wife (Jeanette?), his
triplets.
- Dinner at Pizza Joe's afterward: Richard, Frank, Tanne, Madeline,
Steve, Emily, Tom, Tony, Haley, Alyssa, Dana, Earl.

- Tony's homer landed over the fence in right-center. His triple was hit
even harder but on a line and rolled up to the fence in right-center.
Frank's triple was ripped to center.
- Frank's double in the 7th hit the lowest hanging branch of the tree in
left-center. Frank alertly scored the tying run on Rich's line out
when the throw got past the cut-off.
- Dana got her first B league hit, a looper over the pitcher. The turning
point of the game was Richard/Joe/Frank leaving her and Earl stranded.
- Joe had a tough day in left, missing three line drives. Frank
threw two balls high to Brad at 1B, who had trouble moving. Annie in RC
caught a hard liner, and Tony in LC caught an even harder one. Richard
and Frank got a 10-6 putout at 2B.

- Frank left early to play in another game. Richard subbed at shortstop,
throwing low to Tony, missing a grounder, and missing a throw from Steve
on a possible DP, but also getting two 6-3 double plays.
- Annie and Earl hit great. The rest couldn't string hits together.
- Brad pulled his groin hustling down to first on his first hit.
He was unable to field an easy pop-up in the 4th.

- 7 people at game time. If we have to carry more players,

- Richard's home run went to right-center. Steve's double was a liner
off the left-field fence. Brad may have hit the hardest ball of the day,
a grounder just to the SS's left that became a double play.
- Rene in LC made a strong two-hop throw to Brad at 3B in the 4th for

but still had only 7. Richard let them use 2 players from Masters of
the Universe: Chad Smith, who hit a big home run, and the second Gene Lee.
- Richard's home run went to deep right-center. Mitch hit an even
harder liner off the LC fence.
- Batting average in game 1 of the doubleheader: 42/59 == 0.712;
game 2, 13/30 == 0.433. Dave Barr pitched well, working the height.
- On Byron's single to right in the first, Richard threw a three-hopper to

- Order of appearance determined batting order. 5 people at game time.
- New Shark record for French speakers: 3 (Mitch, Rene, Estel).
Richard also understood Rene's "vas-y" while rounding first on his
double.
- This was TBD's first game. This was Rene's first game for Sharks,
and he immediately led the team with 6 rbis.
- Estel was the insurance for Richard's new recruit,
who in fact canceled on 3 hours' notice. Unfortunately, Estel is a
visiting researcher leaving after September.
- Steve threw no walks, 1 K. Steve - Frank - Tony turned a very nice
1-6-3 double play on a 10-foot ball in the 3rd. In the 1st, Richard
made a leaping catch after misjudging a fly. Tony had several nice
digs. Rene played the fence in the left-field corner well. Must have
been the hockey training.
- Rene drove in the first 2 runs off his hard hit ball to short, but
Anne had the most key hit with her single over 1B in the first.
- Spectators: Tanne and Madeline
- Round Table: Annie, Mario, Michael, Stephen, Joe, Mitch, Frank, Richard
