- Steve and Greg came late, so the defense started with 8. Greg came in
at CF, moving Richard to 2B, and Steve came in at RF. Earl pitched
and pitched well.
- Defense: after fielding a sharply hit grounder at 1B, Rich raced to
the bag and "tagged" the batter, who slid into first. On a looper over 2B,
Richard called for the pop-up, missed it, but threw to Frank at 2B for the
force. Joe in LF broke the wrong way on Cindee Dlugos's hit and had the
ball go off his glove onto the blacktop.
- Frank owned the biggest hit of the game, the game winner over LC with
Steve on 3B. The second biggest hit of the game belonged either to Steve,
whose double tied the game in the 7th, or Frank, whose 2-run double in the
sixth ended a 2+ inning dry spell. Frank also played solid, solid D.
- At Round Table, Earl, Frank, Steve, Emily, Annie, Mario, Stephen, Michael,
Joe, Rich, Greg, and Richard learned that Diamond Cutters beat Bad Newz,
giving the Sharks the season title. We bought them a pitcher for that one.

- In the first, Richard butchered two balls right field,
costing about 4 runs, and Angel did the same on one to left,
after which Bustos hit a 3-run homer onto the blacktop.
Generally, Bad Newz hit great, low rockets through the infield,
many catching bad hops on the way.
- The first inning ended on an odd double play.
Joe fielded a hard hit ground ball while the
runners inexplicably stayed at first and second. Joe thought about
throwing to second, then chose to tag first for one out and throw to
Tom at 3B for the tag out.
- Another Shark highlight belonged to Greg, who made a nice
catch of a low line drive to end the 5th.
- Bad Newz's third baseman had good enough reflexes to play inside the
baseline and snag Joe's liner and Steve's and Mitch's grounders.
- Angel's fan Stacy provided some life, as did Tanne & Madeline.
- Best wishes to Brad, whose Mom is in the hospital.

- Great offensive games for Brad, Tom, Rich, Joe, and Mitch, all of
whom reached base safely every time up. Brad reached for a ball in
the first and still put in onto the blacktop after Frank had tripled
to left-center. Tom and Rich scored every time up, Joe got to show up
his co-workers, and Mitch got the final RBIs in three of the six innings.
- Angel's home run went deep to right-center, Richard's went less far to
the same spot, while Mitch's triple reached
the centerfield side of the blacktop. On the down side, Mitch couldn't
score from 2B on Richard's single in the second before Earl got tagged
out at 3B to end the inning.
- Last inning: after singling up the middle, Brad tagged on Steve's fly
to deep left. Angel popped up, then Greg hit a nice line drive to left
for the go-ahead run. On D, Deb made a solid play on Mike Wilson's
hard grounder to start the inning. The next two batters reached base,
then their first woman hit one solidly over Steve that landed right
by 2B. Brad fielded it, stepped on the base, and threw to Joe at 1B
for the double play to end the game.
- Deb also had a nice line-drive double play to end the second, while
Wilson homered in the first to center-right-center and again in the
third by knuckling one to Tom in right-center.
- Frank left the game after the third due to a dead arm.
- Round Table: Steve, Emily, Becky, Richard, Mitch, Greg, Tom, Rich, Joe,
Earl.

- Frank gets game ball. 4 good hits, plus two inning ending defensive
plays. Wih two outs in the 4th, the bottom and the top D.C. batters
walked to load the bases, then Steve Guzman hit a good grounder just to
the left of 2B, which Frank fielded and threw to Rich, who made a nice
dig. In the next inning with two on and two out, Frank made a nice
over-the-shoulder catch in short left-center.
- Brad's first triple went through the left-field tree onto the blacktop,
and his second beat the LCF and died in the grass. Steve launched his
home run high into the tree in LC. Rich, who has gotten on base safely
every time this season, hit a deep triple to center.
- On the Diamond Cutter side, Gino hit the base of the right-field fence
on the fly, and Mac hit one over the center field fence, back-to-back
shots in the 5th. Toby had at least two hits and a walk.
- Brad and Mitch showed up first and second. Brad also gets bonus
points for buying and bringing the Innertech 2.

- Angel's home run went off the left-center fielder. That was probably
the biggest hit of the game. Steve's home
run hit the dirt on the opposit field. Mitch's triple went to the deepest
part of left-center field.
- Defensive plays of the game: Steve caught two or three rockets in the
first three innings. Richard/Rich got a 10-3 putout to end the first.
After a few runs had scored in the second, Richard got the first out on
a tumbling catch to hes left. Deb caught Anthony Turner's hard line
drive to end the 4th.
- In the fifth, Kelly Perry knocked down Annie's hard shot to first, then
threw out an aggressive Angel on a strike to Rick Steibel at 3B.
- Earl sat out. Mario, Michael, Stephen, and Stacy spectated.
- Joe sick
- Despite a shaky call by Fred Lingad on an outside pitch for strike three,
Tom paid up at Round Table for Richard, Earl, Rich, Annie, Mario, Stephen,
Michael.

- For the second game in a row, Brad and Steve scored two runs in the first
despite coming to bat with none on and two out. Steve's homer
went to left-center, followed by Greg's triple to left. Richard's homer to
center in the second put the team on top for the first time, while Steve's
triple to left got the lead for good. Tom's and Sonny's triples both got
blacktop as well.
- The biggest hit of the day belonged to Annie, who with two outs dropped
one in front of the diving RF to push the lead to 6 in the 6th.
- Deb had the best defensive play of the day, going many steps to her right
to field Dave Scaff's ground ball, then throwing strongly to Joe at 1B for
the out, who has played solidly at 1B. Brad had a good defensive
game - good glove, strong and accurate
throws, including the game-ender with the bases loaded and Jeff Bixler
batting. Sonny subbed solidly at SS, and Earl made a good quick play at C
on a foul pop up the third base line.
- Actually, Sonny had an outstanding play at short on an over-the-shoulder
catch of a dying pop-up. Apparently, he's now got the best wheels on the
team, which is why he's a sub.
- Brian Martin put one ball over the center field fence in the fifth,
the Gasp LC made a good diving catch on Greg's low line drive in
the third, and the Gasp LF made a good meaningless catch of Steve's
foul ricochet off the tree.
- Earl paid up with a pitcher of Sierra Nevada at Round Table. Enjoying
it were Annie, Mario, Stephen, Michael, Joe, Greg, Tom, Steve, Brad,
Sonny, and Richard.

- Wow, we haven't hit like that this season. Wow! Everyone
scored at least twice and reached base at least 3 times. Team OBP: 0.772.
- Star #3: Brad hit hit hit despite a bum knee. He hit so much
he couldn't even give it back on D. After Laverne Guzman led off the
3rd with a triple over Tom, the next two batters got out, then a few
hits, then Brad butchered a slow grounder to 2B to keep the inning
alive. Brad's homer in the 4th landed on the blacktop, followed by
Steve's blast into the LC tree.
- Star #2: Holly Schmidt burned the left fielder and reached blacktop
in the 2nd, then hit the right/right-center gap later in the inning. Other
triples: Steve's, Brad's 1st, and Frank's got blacktop while Brad's
second and Richard's (misplayed) came through hard running.
- Star #1: Joe Jacob paid $75 for a $300 bat and gladly lent it to
Richard for the Sharks game. That bat rocked.
- Sonny debuted nicely with 8 rbi, despite starting the game with a
hard hit grounder that Bad Newz nicely turned for a double play. Bad
Newz turned another nice double play in the third, yet we still
managed to score two runs in each of those innings.
- The big lefty on Bad Newz hit a line drive about
20 feet off the ground that landed between second and third on the
opposite field. Mike Hernandez and Adrian Salazar both got blacktop
on the fly. Maybe more. No Ed Lovato, who typically kills us.
- With two out and none in, Frank's new glove couldn't close on
Laverne's line drive in the first, then he threw wildly on recovery.
However, Frank played otherwise solid D including an excellent play
to his left almost past second base in the 3rd(?) and a 1-6-3
double play (w/Steve and Holly) in the 4th.
- Annie had the best defensive play by charging and catching a
sinking line drive in the 2nd. Mitch caught a tricky ball despite
slipping on the low grass near a sprinkler head.
- Pizza for Annie, Mario, Stephen, Frank, Earl, Steve, Tom, Richard

- Richard's homer was a medium fly to right-center. Greg's triple was
just out of the left-fielder's reach. Steve's triple rolled onto the
blacktop, and his homer hit high in the LCF tree. Brad's triple was
hit on a line to left. Frank's triple just got over the left fielder.
- Fabiano made a number of good plays at SS for the Marinators. In the
4th, Greg started his base-hit trot early when Fabiano laid out
and snagged a hard grounder to his left (but could not make a throw).
- On Tom's called strikeout, he didn't hear the umpire call the first
strike on a marginal pitch, then took the next pitch all the way.
- Key hits of the game: Annie's and Joe's in the third to
create some breathing room.
- Defensive game ball goes to Joe at 1B. With one out and the bases
loaded in the 2nd, Joe fielded a chopped grounder and threw to Earl at
C for the force. In the next inning with no outs and runners on 1st
and 2nd, Joe caught a line drive, stepped on first for the 2nd out,
then threw to Frank at 2B for the third out.
- Round Table: Tom paid up, with Frank, Steve, Earl, Joe, and Richard
partaking.

Angel twice. Emily put one over Greg as well. Mac
hit two to deep right-center. Marcus got on base a bunch.
- Mitch beat the left fielder for a triple. Deb had a good hit, forcing
Frank to run for her, as she had threatened. Joe made two good plays
at 1B: one in which he got nailed, and one deep to his right - Steve
covered first on both.
- 1-2-3 in the last half inning.

- Steve hit two balls onto the blacktop. The first went through the
left-field tree. The second put us ahead for the first time.
- Angel started his home run trot a bit early on a ball to dead center
in the first, but he got to take the full trot on a ball onto the
blacktop in the third.
- Key hit of the game was Becky's single to left to keep the 6th inning
rally going. Annie also had a huge hit to drive in the last run of the
5th.
- Frank seemed to find his stroke late in the game, and Joe got on and
on and on. He also scored from second on Richard's fly to
right-center for the tying run.
- With none out and runners on first and second in the second,
Steve/Frank/Joe turned a 1-6-3 double play on a 10-foot ground ball.
- Mitch caught a line drive and threw to first for a double play to
end the first. He also made an excellent charge and short-hop pick up
to end the third. Later, he and Steve had their heads up when they
caught the Maulers with two runners on third base.
- In the last inning, the Maulers scored twice and loaded the bases
with none out, but the bottom two hitters made outs, then Frank
broke well on the leadoff hitter's hard line drive up the middle
for the final out
