Cleveland struck out two batters in the last inning.
Swatm played with 9.
Brad hit a big, big triple that bounced onto the blacktop in the third to tie the game.

Only game for the Sharks this season at Farnsworth.
Nice bbq after the game. Steve hosted, and Richard supplied most of the food and beer though he underestimated the team's consumptive powers.
Batting order and defense based on order of appearance, which led to a nice footrace between Tom and Sharon from the parking lot to the field. Steve got an exemption for hosting the bbq.
Kobie put one over the fence and between the trees in left-center.
Cleveland caught and played in sandals.
Ryan pitched the 4th and discovered his best friend on a line-drive double-play from Tom @ 3B to Kobie @ 2B.
Kobie pitched the 5th. Credibly. Our five-man rotation is now Cleveland, Steve, Earl, Kobie, Ryan.

More good hitting to put the game out of reach (just barely) early.
Annie got the biggest hit, a 2-run rbi with 2 out in the first.
Thanks to Marc for subbing on on .5 day's notice.
Cleveland lost track of the number of strikes when batting in the 3rd.
In the Menaces' last inning, they scored 8, loaded the bases with two outs, then popped up to LF to end the game.
Horrendous defense in the last two innings: bad throw from Brad to 2B on a force, dropped throw from Tom in LC to Richard at C, ground ball right underneath Marc's glove at SS, one hopper beneath Earl's glove at 2B, lost fly ball in the sun by Erik in LF.
Erik got the tree in LC in the fifth. At the time, the solo shot didn't look important, but it turned out to be the difference.
Menaces: no Dave Durham, Chris Potts, Chris Jones, Greg Carr, Rene Fradet.

Steve had a huge hit in the first to score runners from 2nd and 3rd with two out, then he got the tree in the fourth for a grand slam.
Both Ryan and Tom reached base safely every time up, though the last two times, Ryan's momentum carried him a bit too far past second.
Great hustle play by Sharon on her grounder between 3/4 as she beat (so the blue says) the pitcher Rich Orozco to first.
Heads up play by Rich at 1B in the 5th. After 4 runs were in, bases loaded, 1 out, the batter popped up to Rich, blue called infield fly, Rich dropped the ball, runner from third took off, Rich threw a strike to Earl, who tagged the runner for a double play.
Kobie smoked a triple onto the blacktop, plus he finally bought a glove.
Runner on 2nd, Brad at 3B knocked down a hard grounder, picked it up with the bare hand, then tagged the runner with the glove. The ump noticed. Later on LaVerne Guzman's rocket down the line, Brad reached down with his right hand, not far enough. Good thing he hits.
Great pitching by Cleveland. 2 strikeouts including 1 on fouls to end the game.
Two nice catches by Ryan in LF.

Curt Henry probably made the play of the day by deflecting a scorching ground ball from Erik and not losing a kneecap.
Brad and Cleveland both smoked balls into the tree in left. Brad's gave us the lead for good.
Smartest play: Kobie swung and missed, drawing the defense in, then homered over a rusty Rene Fradet in LC.
Intentional heads-up play: in the 5th with two out and Ryan on first, Cleveland worked the count to 3-2. Ryan took off on the pitch and scored on the hard single to center.
Earl took one for the team, plus he set up a reasonable lineup. It's tough to make a lineup when everyone is good enough to bat in the top 5.
Steve literally took one for the team. Steve held up from 2nd on Sharon's blooper to center in the 5th, then got nailed in the leg on the throw into third, allowing Sharon to take 2B.
More great pitching by Cleveland, as the Menaces hit very inconsistently, plus a great catch of a knee-high line drive up the middle in the 6th.
Richard should have been out 4 times in his first three at-bats. That's not counting the ball that hit the tree in left.
Duane Roth pitched the last inning for Menaces, who played the last eight batters with 11 men in the field.

Nice shoestring catches by both Tom in LCF and Steve in RF.
Cleveland hit blacktop down the left field line in the first, causing Steve Guzman to give him nothing to hit the next at bat.
Brad hit a line drive into the LCF tree in the fifth. On the other hand, he didn't pick a ground ball up cleanly in the seventh, stumbled, then launched his throw to 2B 20 feet into the air.
Annie hit a double in the fourth between LF and LCF.
Kobie made a nice stop and throw of a hard grounder up the middle in the fourth.
